Negative trends in Weight loss     

When it comes to losing weight, most of us want a quick solution. People are becoming more and more conscious of their looks and are willing to spend time and money to look and feel better about themselves. In the world of zero sizes, pills, diet drinks and fad diets, it is very common to have negative feelings about your appearance.

At times, this fascination makes us do things which are not very safe or practical. Some of negative trends in weight loss are-

Quick results- Most of us want quick results and want to shed a lot of pounds in just few days. This leads us to use strategies like diet pills, supplements, diet formulas and weight loss surgeries. Such methods can have very serious long term health hazards.

Skipping meals- Our body needs food to perform various bodily functions for day to day living. Food gives energy to the body to perform these functions. If you decide to skip a meal, it is going to hurt your body. It decreases the glucose level in the blood and makes you feel weak and lethargic. In severe cases, it can also lead to loss of consciousness. Hence, which ever diet plans suggest you to skip a meal, its better to skip that diet plan.

Not getting enough exercise- There are many diet plans that suggest that you do not need to exercise to lose weight. Not exercising is as bad as skipping a meal. Food is required for body to perform all its daily functions and exercise is required to keep the body healthy and increase the metabolism.

Expecting too much too soon- The weight you have gained has been over a period of time. So losing it will also take atleast some reasonable amount of time. Expecting to lose too much weight in a short span is not healthy. And most probably, you will gain it back, almost all of it. Hence, go slow on the weight loss. Losing 2-3 pounds each week is the ideal weight loss.

Comparisons- Comparing ourselves to anyone else is the worst thing we can do for our self esteem. Each one of us is different and has different body types and needs. If one exercise program or diet plan works for someone, it is not necessary that it will work for you as well. It is, hence, important for you to identify your body needs and work out accordingly.

Unrealistic expectations- People who want to lose too much too soon often get depressed and frustrated when the desired results are not achieved. This can push them to eat more and come back to where they started off in terms of weight. It is hence important to keep your expectations real and achievable.

Relying too much on a particular method of weight loss- Unless you are taking a healthy diet and exercising regularly, it is not advisable to rely on diet pills, weight loss diets, weight loss pills or any such method of weight loss totally,. It is important to combine all of them to get the desired results. One must be very careful in selecting these quick fixes as they can have very serious long term effects on your physical and emotional well being. Few of them can also cause some damage to the organs.

Instant gratification- Every year, $35 billion is being spent on weight management products. When one product fails to do the trick, we wait for the next miracle drug to do the magic which the previous one could not do. Isn’t this an indication that there might be something that is not working for you? It might be the time to open your eyes and realize that the particular weight loss program might not be the best solutions for you after all.

Never think that you can lose weight by just popping some pills or following some diet plans, in the long run. These offer you very short term gains, if at all. Start working out today and start paying attention to each and every bite that goes into your mouth. Don’t follow the negative trends in weight loss.

More and more people are fighting obesity these days. It has become a serious health issue. Many are struggling to lose even a pound, but there is hope. Never forget that natural way is the best way to lose weight.
